WebDec 12, 2012 · I'd recommend the first way even if you remove the valve cover to reseal it (it tends to develop oil leaks at the main seal and the small rubber seals for each bolts that hold the cover to the head). The "right" way to do the job is remove the valve cover, timing belt, then cam cap. The cam cap has a bunch of allen (hex) and Torx Plus 40 bolts that need removal. Once this is done the plug can be removed.
