Webb14 okt. 2005 · Once upon a time special thick bearings were available to install an early small journal crank (such as 283 or 327) into a big journal block (350). Does anyone know if these extra thick special bearings are still made? If so, from who? Yea they still make those bearings and the rear main uses a spacer still. I think Chevy did the following to get the 283-302-327-350 displacements: Put 283 crank in small-journal 327 block and get a (Chevy)302. Put a larger stroke crank in a redesigned 283 block and get a 307. Put a larger stroke crank in a large-journal 327 and get a 350.

IMHO find a steel 350 3.48" crank and use the 6" rods and I think you'll be much happier.
